artist statement
My current body of abstract expressionist work emerged during a time of profound grief. In that space of surrender, a door within me opened, allowing a deeper voice to come through. Working primarily in watercolor and other fluid mediums, I follow an intuitive process that reflects the shifting nature of emotion, memory, and inner landscape.
I am continually inspired by elements in motion: the sky, the water, clouds passing overhead, the way light and wind dance over everything. These ephemeral forces remind me that nothing stays the same, and I try to echo that sense of impermanence and transformation in my work. My painting practice is also a personal one, an alchemical process through which I move and transmute emotional energies. Informed by my work with Family Constellations, at times, the gestures and movements within a painting feel like constellations themselves, arrangements of feeling, memory, and connections that can subtly shift and heal through attention and expression.
My hope is that viewers find a sense of spaciousness and a place to feel something within themselves reflected, moved, or simply held.
